LIMA, Dec 20 (Reuters) - Peru's central bank expects the nation's economy to grow 3.2% this year, up from its prior forecast of 3.1%, the bank said in a report on Friday.
The growth follows a recession last year, when the gross domestic product (GDP) contracted by 0.6%. The bank maintained its 2025 growth forecast at 3.0%.
The central bank also expects to reduce Peru's fiscal deficit level as it "is not sustainable", its chief Julio Velarde said during a presentation.
The institution sees the country's fiscal deficit lowering to 2.2% of its domestic product in 2025, compared to 3.7% this year.
It also sees annual inflation at 2.1% in 2024, and narrowing to 2% in the next two years.
